PRS POWER SUPPLY
MOSFET power devices are used in power supply deisng for their durability, current capacity and fast switching speed. Orion has developed the awesome PRS (Pulse Regulated Supply) Power Supply design. Unlike the PWM (Pulse Width Modulated) Power Supply used by other manufacturers, the proprietary PRS power supply utilizes a fixed duration square wave pulse that amplifies the current. The benefits of this are incredibly fast recovery time, low output impedance power supply, faster slew rate and less overall noise.

SYMMETRICAL LAYOUT
Clean/efficient layout that helps to reduce hot spots and noise due to clutter or un-equal grounds or heat transfer.

DIFFERENTIAL INPUTS
The audio input circuit allows for higher noise rejection and better audio coupling than standard audio input circuits. The integration of these inputs delivers an all around excellent listening experience.

SMALL FOOTPRINT
The XTR line offers consumers and installers freedom to explore new installation locations.

CUSTOM CONNECTORS
The new terminal connectors accept larger gauge wire, simplify the installation and improve the cosmetic look of the install. With less overall insertion loss, the overall power and performance of the system is improved.

EXTRUDED ALUMINUM HEAT SINK
Extruded aluminum delivers solid aluminum heat sink for maximized performance.

DIFFERENTIAL INPUTS
These days it is much more likely that the consumer will be using the factory head unit with these amplifiers. To aid in the installation, we have equipped these amplifiers with high-level inputs that also include an Auto-Sense circuit. Orion's high-level inputs accept voltages from 1V to 10V from the head unit's speaker outputs. When more than 1V is detected on the speaker line, the amplifier will turn on. Once the voltage is gone for more than 30 seconds, the amplifier will turn off.

LINE-OUT
All Orion XTR amplifiers feature a balanced line out to allow easy connection of additional amplifiers to the audio system.

REMOTE BASS CONTROL
Connection of the optional HP-RB1 remote mountable bass control allows vairable adjustment of the bass control from the driver's seat. The HP-RB1 is only active when the crossover is set to low-pass. Excludes XTR2502 & XTR2504.

INFRASONIC FILTER
Aids in the elimination of unwanted noise or harmonics at very low frequency that may degrade the sound quality of a subwoofer and/or enclosure caused by distortion or over excursion from those unwanted noises or harmonics.

Matched outputs have less notch distortion and better sound quality. With symmetrical output designs, clipping the output creates an even order distortion (as opposed to an odd order distortion) if the outputs are not matched correctly. Even order distortion is much less offensive to human hearing. Thermal stability is improved as heat is dissipated from the devices more evenly.

TINSEL LEAD
Tinsel leads are the number one failure mode of subwoofers. There are various ways to attach the tinsel leads, the first is just to arc them from the terminal to the cone, the leads have the potential to either break or short together. Another is to weave them into the spider, this method prevents them from shorting together, but causes the leads to stretch as the spider moves, resulting in breakage. XTR subwoofers feature a loop-stitch method that loops the lead over the rolls in the spider and then secures the lead in the valleys of spider with a stitch. This keeps the leads free of tension, but secure during peak excursion.

X-VENTING
Heat is the root of all evil. To relieve as much heat as possible, XTR subwoofers feature X-venting on the voice coil former and the neck of the cone underneath the dust cap. Both of these vent areas aid in removing heat from the motor assembly of the driver. This improves both the peak power handling and extends the overall life of the driver.

These days, the OE speaker systems are much more elaborate and have a wide range of sizes. Orion speakers are designed to fit the majority of these applications. Close attention is paid to these elements when designing the speakers. Key areas are mounting, magnet depth and diameter and the distance the tweeter protrudes from the front of the speaker to ensure the speaker fits properly.
